My Journey in Web Development
2021
I discovered the field of web development while taking a computer programming class in high school. I quickly became passionate about the subject and set a goal to become a Web Developer.
2022
After exhausting all the programming courses offered at my school, I kept my basic Web Development skills fresh by practicing on Codecademy.
Spring 2023
My senior year was coming to an end. I debated between taking the self-taught route or enrolling in a college. Ultimately, I decided to enroll at Blackhawk Technical College in the Web Software Developer Program.
Fall 2023
During my first semester at BTC I focused on mastering the basics of HTML and CSS, and learning important concepts I had not been taught before — like proper site structure, best practices, and file paths.
Spring 2024
My second semester of college was very busy. I was learning many new concepts that helped take my beginner websites to the next level. For the first time I learned how to implement JavaScript within websites to make them dynamic. I also got my first exposure to using PHP and MySQL
Fall 2024
My third semester of college taught me the largest variety of skills. I learned about everything from content management systems, version control, cybersecurity, frameworks, and project management.
Spring 2025
In my fourth and final semester, I've taken a deeper dive into the skills I've acquired throughout my journey, bringing them all together to create something I'm proud of — this website!

JJ's Racing
I created this project to showcase the skills I learned in my first year at BTC. It is a fictional racing website, that uses JavaScript to switch between light and dark mode.

This project was built using the OpenWeather API. It uses JavaScript to pull data from the API and return the current weather report for a city entered by the user.

This project is a parallax website. It uses various CSS properties that allow elements to overlap as you scroll. Photoshop was used to separate the foreground and background.

This project was created to emulate what a Wikipedia page might look like for a specific athlete. It uses a side bar to help users navigate throughout the page.
